Foundations of Becoming Online Course

is designed to provide starting points or ideas to strengthen your relationship with the Lord, through an understanding of the richness of the Catholic faith, in order to cultivate your growth and healing.

WEEKLY CONTENT OVERVIEW

Week 1: Introduction

This session provides an introduction to the concept of the process of becoming, mindsets for growth, and worth and identity. You will be invited to notice and reflect on your current context related to these areas.

Week 2: Where are You?

This session provides guidance to take stock of your life related to fulfillment, relationship with the Lord, what you have space for in your life, and how you relate to your current roles. You will be invited to compassionately take stock of your life with the Lord.

Week 3: Space for Prayer

This session provides an overview of the purpose of prayer, mindsets about prayer, and ideas for starting or strengthening a prayer life. It also explores how prayer changes over time.

Week 4: Scripture

This session provides an overview of seven different ways to pray with Scripture and prioritizes space to practice throughout the week. You are invited to journal about the experience.

Week 5: Sacraments

This session provides an overview of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church, glimpses into the great gifts contained within, and encouragement to live a sacramental life.

Week 6: Vocation

This session provides an exploration of discovering how God uniquely designed you and who he created you to be through a range of lenses. It also acknowledges the role of imposter syndrome when discerning over time.

Week 7: Prioritization

This session provides insight into how to prioritize amidst all the good options competing for your time and energy. There are reminders that it is a process that can be adjusted over time, tailored to the unique circumstances of the moment.

Week 8: Community

This session provides a context for the role of community within the process of becoming. The assets of different types of support are explored, while also considering God's role through it all.

Week 9: Reflecting and Moving Forward

This session provides an opportunity to celebrate growth through the course, consider curiosities sparked, and discern natural next steps.

Who is a good fit for this course?

This course is designed for those who desire to intentionally align their lives to God's will. For those who are just starting to think about this, the course provides ideas for how to get started and what to expect as they begin this journey. For those who have already been intentionally investing in a relationship with the Lord, the course will provide opportunities to reflect on how the process has been unfolding and encouragement for strengthening relationship.

How much time should I expect to spend on each session?

I recommend that you schedule 1 hour for each session. That allows for about 15 minutes to view the session video and about 45 minutes for the 4 pages of journaling. This can be completed all at once or spread across multiple days.

How long should it take me to complete the course?

I recommend that you complete one session each week. This allows for you to have some space to pray through each session, while also keeping your momentum going.

How in depth are the concepts in this course?

This course is designed as an introductory course, providing an overview of different topics that contribute to a solid foundation to support the process of becoming. Future offerings from Endure in Hope LLC will continue to explore the components more in depth.

Is there any interaction in this course with the instructor or other students?
